Our first concepts considered including a stair mechanism to combine two spaces into one, which entailed incorporating a collapsing or sliding partition staircase.
We chose to create a sliding staircase barrier that deploys using scissor-like components and can be utilized as shelves when extended in either direction.
We chose to create a sliding staircase barrier that deploys using scissor-like components and can be utilized as shelves when extended in either direction.
This study suggests a folding stair that is simple to deploy and fold as a partition. It is made up of a number of similar deployable scissor-like components that, when expanded, form the staircases. Aside from function, the folded stair may be used to as shelving and serve as a decorative. The mechanism is designed in line with the stair’s two extreme orientations, folded and unfolded.
